Our Story

The Armstrong Story…..so far.

Our lives are lived out on the border of the Cape Point nature reserve. We live in the town of Scarborough because we love being close to nature. We are a surfing family of 7 kids. From soft long boarding waves to deep outer reefs the stoke of riding waves is shared by all of us. Ian is a former World Big Wave Champ winning the team event at Todo Santos Mexico in 1999 whilst both Max and Ruth have represented their country. Mom, Lee, loves longboarding whilst 12 year old Asha’s favorite stick is a 4’1″ fish. 21 year old Holly surfs anything that comes her way with style and flow. The youngest 3 little girls are brown all over from surfing naked in the shorebreak the whole summer long. When the waves are flat we go bodysurfing and play street soccer. Ian makes boards of all shapes and sizes and styles with equal curiosity and passion, hungry for knowledge and drawing from decades of experience all the while striving for the “magic-board”. If our family had a motto it would be something like “living free is how we like to be.”
